Greetings!
Three years ago, some friends wanted to gather for a fun night out. Many of us have kids and adult socialization that isn’t kid-focused can be hard to come by. We’re all fans of Fort Wayne’s brewery and food scene, so we arranged our own brew tour around town.
We used a CTN van (and paid full price!) because we could travel safely, pay a fair price, and we knew that the revenue earned would actually support CTN’s medical transportation program. It was like ordering TOMS shoes, but instead of sending a pair of shoes to a person in need, CTN got someone to their dialysis treatment. Private charter is something CTN has done for a long time, but we don’t talk a lot about. We do brewery and winery tours; we also offer shuttles for weddings and private events. The best part is, CTN is universally accessible – we’re available to everyone. You never need to worry about a guest’s mobility needs.
As you plan your parties this fall, and especially during the holiday season, consider booking CTN to transport your people. Your charter means more than just a ride for you – it’s a ride for a CTN client, too!

Jerome began riding with us 8 years ago when he was referred through Verida for transportation to dialysis.
Dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment for people with kidney failure. Most dialysis patients require treatment three times a week, often at specific times. Reliable transportation ensures they can adhere to this strict schedule, which is essential for maintaining their health. As we have seen time and time again in our nearly 25 year history, stress over transportation issues can negatively impact mental and emotional well-being. Knowing they have reliable transportation can alleviate this stress, allowing them to focus on their treatment and recovery.

Jerome said, “CTN has made my transportation back and forth to dialysis and to doctors appointments easier. It has been a major plus." |

We could not do what we do without our dedicated staff, so let's get to know them!
Meet Jessica! She joined our team 8 years ago and is our Director of Operations. In her role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our transportation programs. She oversees our drivers and schedulers and works with our partner agencies to arrange their clients’ transportation.
She said the mission of CTN is important to her because, “We are able to help those in need that don’t have other transportation options. We help them live a longer, healthier, and happier life by staying at home and independent." |
| |
|
Her favorite memory with CTN revolves around the Ride Along. Ride Alongs provide our staff and volunteers a chance to literally ride along on a CTN transit van to see our mission in action. Jessica loves this because “it puts names with the faces and voices of clients I am helping every day.” |

| We could not do what we do without the support and hard work of our dedicated board of directors.
Jon Painter, VP and Business Banker for 1st Source Bank, has served on our board since 2015, serving as the Vice President from 2018-2019. During his tenure, he has impacted our organization in a myriad of ways, but perhaps the most impactful legacy is the work he has done on the governance committee. Through his work with others on the governance committee, they developed a Board Service Scorecard, which helps keep current board members accountable. He also helped establish new board recruitment priorities to help strengthen the board and our organization for years to come.
In addition to service to CTN, Jon served 9 years on the Blue Jacket board, including a stint as Treasurer. He’s served his church, St. Joe United Methodist Church, as a member of the finance committee; served as a mentor at the Fort Wayne Women’s Bureau' worked with the Fort Wayne Community Development Corporation; served as a regional board member for the Northeast Indiana Heart Association Leadership Team; and as treasurer of his neighborhood association.

Regional Study on WANE TV
Thank you WANE TV for sharing findings from our Regional Transportation Study conducted earlier this year. The assessment aimed to recognize the strengths of transportation in our region while also identifying areas for improvement. As a result of the assessment, we have a report that includes 9 recommendations made by the consultant; some are designed to be led by CTN and others are designed to be led by other partners in the region. Further collaboration will be necessary to fully implement the recommendations. Many of the recommendations will have long-term impact. This includes greater regional collaboration and inter-county travel.

Every year AWS awards funds to direct service providers for them to pay forward to other organizations that are meaningful to their participants and staff. We are so grateful to our partners at Life Adult Day Academy who chose to “pay it forward” to CTN. Life Adult Day Academy (LADA) provides day services and employment training to individuals with disabilities. Through our partnership, CTN provides transportation to LADA every day. “This partnership is a cornerstone in keeping Life Adult Day Academy’s services truly person centered and more accessible, enhancing the quality of life for those we serve, and supporting our overall mission,” said Lloyd Jones, CEO & Executive Director of LADA. |
