AWS FOUNDATION GRANTS $250,000 TO CTN
Fort Wayne, IN March 4, 2019 – AWS Foundation presented a check to Community Transportation Network (CTN) on Tuesday, March 4, 2019 for $250,000. The grant supports CTN’s increasing efforts to transport people with disabilities to medical appointments, supportive service programs, and their places of employment, allowing them to live as independently as possible.
“We are grateful to AWS Foundation for their increased support of CTN,” says Becky Weimerskirch, executive director of CTN. “This significant gift allows us to continue as a source for dependable and efficient transportation for people with disabilities. We are also able to increase employment transportation for individuals with disabilities, allowing the riders to maintain their independence and work without the barrier of transportation.”
“The freedom to hop into a car or onto a bus to get where we wish to go is something many of us take for granted,” says Patti Hays, AWS Foundation’s CEO. “Accessible transportation gives independence and freedom to people of all abilities. We are pleased to support CTN’s efforts.”
CTN operates specialized transportation primarily in Allen County to accommodate the needs of seniors, people with disabilities, low income families, children, youth, and the organizations that serve them. These funds will help to sustain the growth in CTN’s capacity to provide more trips for over 5,800 individuals of all ages and all abilities.
The organization provided more than 50,000 trips in the last six months of 2018. Individuals, companies, and foundations can support CTN to sponsor trips for individuals to access healthcare, program services, recreation, education, work, shopping, and other resources.
CTN is a private nonprofit organization that provides accommodating transportation for seniors, people with disabilities, low income families, children, youth, and the organizations that serve them. To be able to get there, enables a person to open a new door of opportunity.
