Wellspring on Wheels Mobile Food Pantry 2021 Schedule
Fort Wayne, Ind. – Wellspring Interfaith is partnering with several area groups in Allen County in 2021 for its Wellspring on Wheels, ‘WOW,’ mobile food pantry program.
Area partners include Come As You Are Community Church, Headwaters Church-Wells St, Avalon Missionary Church-Centro Internacional de Alabanza Renovacion, Dupont Estates Mobile Home Park, the Pontiac Library- ACPL, Community Transportation Network-CTN, and the Adams Township Trustee Office in the City of New Haven.
Wellspring Interfaith responded quickly to rising food insecurity in 2020 due to COVID-19. As such, its food operations grew substantially. Feeding America estimates that an additional 17 million people have suffered from food insecurity in 2020 due to the pandemic – totaling over 54 million. And, that growing need has been felt in Wellspring’s mobile food pantry. To date Wellspring has served over 17,000 food insecure individuals and 4,000 families in the WOW program – equating to 60,000 lbs, or 30 tons, of food.
